On Wednesday the Uttarakhand government moved to justify government takeover of 51 of the state’s biggest Hindu temples including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri. Preposterously, “cleaning” has been cited as one of the main reasons why Hindus should not be allowed to run their own temples in the state.
