Shocking scenes today surfaced from Kashi Sarvajna Peetam in Varanasi depicting a brutal attack on a Hindu temple and the defenceless young Sanyasis maintaining the devasthanam. In the early hours of June 6 around 1:30am a large group of hired goons broke into Kashi Sarvajnapeetam in Varanasi and assaulted the male Sanyasis sleeping there. The Sanyasis lives were threatened, deities of the temple were defiled, money and property was looted and the premises vandalized.
