Kolkata Customs Seizes 25 Deities Worth Rs 35 Crores | Hindu Deities Imbibe Higher Intelligence

The Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive) of Kolkata, West Bengal announced that on August 23 it intercepted smugglers transporting an incredible 35 crores (nearly $5 million USD) worth of stolen Hindu Deities. (DNAIndia) As many as 25 stolen Deities were recovered that had been carefully concealed inside a transport truck – Customs recovered 7 stone Deities including Goddess Parvati, Lord Vishnu and Lord Surya as well as other artifacts made of bronze and terracotta. Puri Shankaracharya: “Pre-meditated and well-orchestrated conspiracy” against Jagannath Rath Yatra

After an initial Supreme Court banning, and a last-minute protest appeal, Puri’s ancient Jagannath Rath Yatra was begrudgingly permitted to move forward with minimum participation by the public during the ancient 10-day essential Hindu festival.
